We have two manger scenes in our house – one for the kids and one that they are not allowed to play with. Their manger scene is kid-friendly plastic. I think it’s made by Fisher-Price. It has little figures for all the characters, including sheep and and an angel. The barn features a little flat spot on top where you can put the angel to look over the holy birth.

The other day, I noticed my youngest skipping through the house, chuckling to himself.

“What’s up?” I asked him.

“That baby’s gonna be scared when he wakes up!” He said with a wide smile.

“Baby?”

“Baby Jesus,” he said. He took my hand and pulled me to the manger scene, where he had carefully balanced the sleeping baby Jesus on top of the barn.

I don’t know what it is about my boys and manger scenes. My oldest had similar issues.
