It’s a thing
A few weeks back, as we were getting ready for the first practice of this soccer season, I spotted my oldest son walking around with one soccer shoe in his hand. He looked both annoyed and somewhat embarrassed.
“What are you going to do with that?” I asked.
“I only have this one. I can’t find the other one.”
“Wait a minute.” I said. “Didn’t this happen last week with your dress shoes? You only had one.”
“Yeah.” He shrugged. “It’s a thing.”
“Maybe you could make a new pair: one dress shoe and one cleat.”
Shaking his head, he deadpanned, “Thought of that, but they’re both the left shoe.”
