A Pat On The Head
When I got my copies of the new Chicken Soup for the Soul book in last week, I was pretty excited. It’s not the first short story I’ve had published, but it’s still exciting to see your work in print.
“Check it out,” I said, showing the kids. “I’ve got a story in it!”
“How many pages in it?” my oldest asked.
“Um,” I said flipping pages to see. “Just a few, I think.”
“No,” he said. ”I mean in the whole book. How many pages in the whole book?”
I looked at the last page. “Three hundred eighty eight. Why?”
“Wow! And you wrote them all?” he asked.
“No. I just did one story. Look here it is.” I held out the book.
He didn’t even glance at it. “Oh,” he said, patting my hand. “That’s still very good. Good job, Daddy. Good job.”
Then he went back to working on his homework.
Sheesh.
I finally decided to write a comment on your blog. I just wanted to say good job. I really enjoy reading your posts.
Hey old man – way to go. I fully expected to see a picture of you doing a headstand though!
