Helping Daddy
The last two weeks, thanks to a couple of hard deadlines, I broke the rules and worked some on the weekends when the kids were awake. I try hard not to do this, but sometimes it happens…
The kids, of course, noticed. Sunday night, they asked what our jobs actually were. I explained that I’m a writer and a web developer and a game designer. My wife said that she’s a teacher and a social worker, then tried to explain what a social worker does.
“She helps people,” I said. “That’s pretty much the bottom line. She helps people.”
“Oh,” my five-year old exclaimed. “Then she can help you!”
“Me? What do I need help with?”
“Cause you need help. You know, with your work and all.”
Yeah. This working from home thing? It has its plusses and minuses.
