World Cup
The soccer league I coach in doesn’t let the teams pick their own names. Instead, each team has the name (and jersey) of a professional team. We’re Germany, and have been for the past five or six seasons.
That meant that while the rest of the world was cheering for Messi and Argentina in the World Cup finals, we were cheering for Germany. The kids were in Texas during the actual game, but I called them right after Germany scored its goal. I didn’t know if they’d be watching or not, but I still thought it’d be fun.
“Can I talk to the big guy?” I asked my wife when she answered.
“Sure.” I heard her hand the phone to my oldest son.
As soon as he had it to his ear, he shouted “GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!”
Yep. They were watching.
