We have never used numbers when talking about going to the bathroom. I don’t know why. It just never happened. Our kids don’t know what “going number 1″ means.

The other day at school our two year old told his teacher he had to go to the bathroom. She responded by asking him a question he’d never heard before: “Do you have to go Number 1 or Number 2?”

Shifting from foot to foot, he held out a hand with his fingers spread wide. “I have to go Number FIVE!”

I know that feeling.
