Christmas Story

’twas the night before Christmas… and the kids were wired. We had finished a long day of cleaning, preparations, and shopping, so they were also very tired.

Wired and tired makes for silly kids, especially the night before Christmas.

Finally, we settled down to read the Night Before Christmas. My wife hadm’t finished two pages before C (the 5-year old) piped up, “but do they have a butler?”

A butler? What?

    ‘Twas the night before Christmas
And the kids were quite wired
After a long day of working
    We were all pretty tired

    At last we were settled
    All snug on the couch
With Daddy to read to us
    And Mommy too – OUCH!

    A small pair of fingers
    A little socked foot
    A cute little elbow
And geez, oh man – OOF

    Now BOYS! On this eve
    Of our Lord’s holy birth
    Leave the pillows alone
    And have QUIET mirth!

    So settle we did
    Again, snug in our home
    Merry Christmas to all –
and, wait – do you guys have a butler?

    (HAHAHAHAH – I couldn’t think of a last line!!!)
