The boys finished up rock climbing league yesterday night. The end-of-season celebration involved snacks and sweets and awards.

In addition to the awards for the top three climbers, each participant received a “participation” certificate, and an award unique to them.

The unique awards were a nice touch that the kids really enjoyed, and my youngest son’s was my favorite of them all: an award for having the craziest helmet hair.

“Because every time you take off your helmet, your hair is always crazy,” the coach said.

My son looked at the printed certificate. It had his name, followed by the title “Best Helmet Hair.”

He started to giggle. “Well,” he said. “I can’t argue with that!”
